The Greatest Homecoming!

Homecoming is coming! Homecoming Week starts on Monday, October 22 and the Big Show- Our Dance is on Saturday, October 27 from 7:00pm-10:00pm. Tickets are only $10! College Fair

Attention juniors and seniors: The Historically Black College Recruitment fair is happening again this year next Tuesday, September 11. Seniors can take their transcripts and SAT/ACT scores and be admitted on the spot to universities. Scholarships will be awarded and juniors can research and interview possible schools to apply to their senior year. YVHS will be providing a bus to Deer Valley High the day of the event. Students will arrive back at school around lunch time. Please sign up with Mrs. Santos in the College and Career Center as soon as possible if you are interested in attending this amazing event!!

Volunteers needed this Weekend!

Hey Warriors. Are you looking for volunteer opportunities to fulfill club requirements? or add to your college transcripts? or just enjoy helping your community? The Athletics Department is looking for 20-25 students to help clear trails at Hidden Valley Park in Martinez this Saturday August 25th from 8:00-12:00 noon. Back to School Night

Back to School Night is tonight from 6pm-8pm. We will have two food vendors, Guacamole Restaurant and Steel Smokin’ BBQ  a on our campus from 4:30pm -7:30pm in the quad! Yummy! We are excited to meet all of our Warrior Families!

 

Cheerleading Tryouts

Do you have school spirit? Love to cheer? STUNT?Gymnastics? Tumbling?  Cheer for our Warriors and perform at football, basketball and other games! Get involved in our community!   This is your chance to become a member of the Ygnacio Valley High school cheerleading program.  The 2018-2019 YVHS cheerleading squads will hold tryouts on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday  August 21-24 right after school in the dance room. All underclassmen lockers Grade 9-11 will need to be cleaned out on Friday. You will be sent a pass to go clean out your locker and relock your lock. The lock is on loan to you until you graduate.

 

Cap and Gown Distribution

Cap and Gowns  are available for pickup during lunch time only through the end of the week.  Students who were told they have fines need to bring their receipts from the IMC, Cafeteria or Treasurer to show proof their fines have been cleared.  Students with credit issues need to return the blue paper signed by their teacher and Mr. Navarette in the Wellness Center. Students with fines can pay their fines at the Treasurer's Office before or after school or during brunch. There is an option to do volunteer service hours to pay off your fines.  Loaner caps and gowns will be passed out after graduation rehearsal at the Pavillion.

Students who do not clear their fines by graduation can pick up their cap and gowns back at YVHS after graduation rehearsal; their diplomas will be pulled.  If you still need to purchase or borrow a cap and gown you must call Josten’s directly. Please see Mrs. Ridings for information.

 

Final Transcripts

Don't forget to complete your final transcript request form located outside the Registrar's Office and turn it into Registrar. The final transcript will be sent to your college after graduation. If you plan on playing sports in college, you will need to send a transcript to NCAA Eligibility Center once you register with them. Any questions, see the Registrar.

Senior Walk

Seniors- would you like to join us for Senior Walk? On Thursday we will be heading to our feeder pattern elementary schools to show them what it looks like to graduate and talk to them about advice for getting across the stage! Cheer Tryouts

Are you interested in joining our cheerleading team?  Do you tumble? It is a new Fall and Winter season spirit squad and Spring Competitive STUNT program.  Tryouts for the 2018-2019 year will be Tuesday through Thursday in the dance room after school.

Curious about your immigration options? Come to YV's Dreamer Intake Service (DIS) Session hosted by the Ed Academy and the Dream Club during LUNCH on WEDS May 23rd in Room 310.

Spring Concerts

Come enjoy some music and support your classmates as they perform their final concerts of this school year! Choir and Guitar Ensemble perform on Tuesday May 29; band, orchestra, and jazz band on Thursday May 31. Both concerts are at 7pm in the M.U.

Good news! We have extended Prom ticket sales through Friday. If you are planning on attending Prom- please turn in a completed contract to the VP office. The C.A.R.E.S. After School Program will be running two sessions of a FREE 3 week SAT Prep Courses over the summer. We will be offering free breakfast and lunch. #whatsyour17 week 

This week we are honoring the Parkland 17, the 17 victims of the Parkland, Florida shooting. Each day we are asking you to create 17 positive goals to make our school and community a better place. Monday: Smile at 17 new people, Tuesday: High Five 17 people, Wednesday: Send 17 people a nice text, Thursday: Compliment 17 people, Friday: Talk to 17 new people. We are asking you to share your challenges with us at the hashtag #whatsyour17yv and let us know who you talked to, interacted with, and possibly made a new friend.

 

Walk out and Walk Up Wednesday           

We are looking for student and staff speakers who would like to speak on Wednesday, March 14 at Brunch. We will be having a gathering in the Quad to Honor the Parkland 17 for 17 minutes. We ask that you Walk Up- to a new friend, to a student who sits by themselves, to a new student or staff member. Thank your teachers for what they do, walk up to somebody who sits quietly and ask them to join your group. Let’s be kind to one another and honor the memories of those lost to gun violence. If you are interested in speaking on Wednesday please come by 602 at brunch or lunch Monday or Tuesday.

DACA

Students you are cordially invited to a DACA Informational Meeting.  The meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 28th during 4th period in the Library.  If you would like to learn about the DACA immigration policy changes please sign up with Ms. Hopper in Room 403 or in the Wellness Center; a pass will be sent to you on this date.  The meeting will be facilitated by an Immigration Lawyer from the International Institute from the Bay Area Office in collaboration with Educators for Fair Consideration (E4FC).  Pizza will be provided at lunch.

Attention Artists! National Portfolio Day is happening January 14. Over 40 Art Colleges will be in attendance at California College of the Arts in San Francisco this day. Share your portfolio while meeting with over 40 representatives of Art Colleges and get your questions answered about entering the world of a Career in the Arts.

 

Students interested in becoming physicians or pharmacists that are of African American, Native American Indian, Filipino, Pacific Islander, and Latino/Hispanic dissent, should sign up for the 2018 Doctors on Board Pipeline Program. Event is on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley. UCSF, UC Davis, and Stanford schools of Medicine will be participating along with many other participants. Join us as we celebrate the end of the semester with a Festive Spirit Week! Monday is a Winter Wonderland- come dressed for Snow! Tuesday wear all of your holiday accessories! Wednesday show off the colleges you applied to or want to represent! Thursday is Ugly Holiday Sweater Day! Friday is the best- Pajama Day!

 

 

 

Senior Breakfast

Senior Breakfast is on Friday, December 22- it is only $10! Come and join us while the staff cooks you breakfast! You get to play games, listen to music, watch a slideshow and there is even a surprise performance! Turn in your contracts now! You must have a contract completed if you purchased the Senior Package.

Tickets are $10 now through next Tuesday, they will be $20 on the last day of sales- Wednesday, December 20!

 

Yearbook

Our Yearbook is currently at its lowest price of the year! You can purchase the yearbook at the Treasurer’s Office for only $60! This sale will end on Friday, DEcember 22 so make sure you take advantage of the sale and buy your Yearbook by Friday! Prices go up in January!

 

Basketball Tournament

There will be a basketball tournament when we return from break! Come sign up in Room 602 at lunch! It’s $2 a person, 5 man teams! The more teams- the better the competition!

 

Canned Food Drive

Hey Warriors, do you like pizza??? Win a pizza party for your fifth period class during the Ed. Academy's December canned food drive! Look for the boxes placed in your classrooms, and bring any packaged food you can spare! All of the food will go to our District's Homeless Outreach Program for Education! The 5th period class with the most donations at the end of December will get the pizza party! Thanks for spreading your holiday cheer!"

The Athletic Boosters has an annual scholarship available.  Your family must be a member of our booster club to qualify.  Deadline to join will be Friday, December 22nd. Membership forms can be found on the school website or Mr Tran’s office.

If you have not ordered your cap/gown and graduation announcements yet, you must now order online at Jostens.com or mail your order directly to Jostens.  The Final deadline to place your cap and gown order is Monday, December 18.

Welcome Parents and Guardians to our survey for 2017-2018!

The Ygnacio Valley High School California Schools Parent Survey (CSPS) is open from November 15, 2017- December 31, 2017.

 

This survey is an opportunity for you to help YVHS by sharing your opinions. Your insight is important to us.

 

If you have more than one child at this school, please think about the oldest of these children as you answer the questions.

 

Answer the questions based on your experience at YVHS only. The survey will take about 10-15 minutes to complete.

 

We appreciate your honest opinions.

 

Please note, the survey is anonymous and is a computer based survey. Parents are welcome to use our computers on the following  Wednesdays: November  29th  and December 6th from 2:00 - 4:00 PM in our Wellness Center (building next to the Library).

Esta encuesta es una oportunidad para que usted ayude a esta escuela, compartiendo sus opiniones sobre la escuela. Sus opiniones son importantes, y la escuela está interesada en escucharlas.
