Sam Garcia Islas
I currently teach Living Earth Biology and International Baccalaureate Biology years 1-2. I am also the Science Department Chair and hope to continue to support our amazing students and science staff.
I graduated from Mt. Diablo High School and received my Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Berkeley. After working in Oakland schools leading STEM programs, I decided that education was the the best fit for my goal of helping others.
As a biologist, I truly enjoy working with animals, talking about health, and being out in nature. I currently have chickens, leopard geckos, and live-planted aquariums. I also like to travel whenever I have the opportunity.
I am passionate about education and its ability to open doors. I hope to be able to model and instill a love of learning for all of my students in order to help them achieve their educational and professional goals.
